District Governor's Official visit

Lindsay’s introduction to Rotary was in 1977 on Group Study Exchange to Canada. He joined Lane Cove club in 1978 and has served in all club roles. He has been Assistant Governor for 3 terms, Club Service Advisor, District Training Chair, Membership Chair, Rotary Foundation Chair 2009-12 and appointed to the 2014 Sydney Host Organising Committee. A Paul Harris Society member and Major Donor, Lindsay is committed to supporting The Rotary Foundation, recently appointed to the TRF Fund Development Committee 2018-21, committed to raise US$2.025 billion by 2025 for the Endowment Fund. A 10-year Fundraising Institute Australia director, he is a Fellow and Certified Fundraising Executive and served as Director, Prostate Cancer Foundation Australia (founded by Lane Cove Rotary), receiving their inaugural PCFA Award for service to the organisation. He has numerous recognitions from community and vocational groups for his leadership roles. Lindsay grew up in the idyllic surroundings of Wollongong surf and pool, competed successfully to national levels, attended Wollongong High, was then employed at ER&S copper refinery. In 1969 he moved to Sydney as a computer programmer to set up the first in-house computer system for an Australian mailing house. Lindsay and Jenny have 3 children who participated in Youth Exchange; Erica 42, Andrew 35 (Germany), David 40 (Indonesia). The family have hosted many YE and GSE participants. Jenny is Past President Lane Cove. Best known for his yachting exploits, Lindsay has represented Australia at the Admirals and Clipper Cup, navigated 46 consecutive Sydney Hobart Yacht Races, winning 4; including as skipper in 2006 of Love & War. He has spoken to most clubs in D9685 and beyond, on yachting and his 2017 Kokoda Track crossing with sons David and Andrew, raising $28,000 for The Salvation Army. In 2019 Lindsay and Tania married. Tania is also a Past President Lane Cove. Together, their blended family of 5 children and 6 grandchildren actively support Lane Cove Club activities. Lindsay and Tania are well known as people of action and encourage Rotarians to each share their passion for service to lift Rotary’s profile in their communities. |

Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC)

Harold joined Rotary in 1977 and is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Crows Nest in Rotary International District 9685. When employed as the Director of Community Relations and Marketing at the Royal NSW Institute for Deaf and Blind Children. Harold organised the Tunnel Walk and Day of Celebration held in conjunction with the Opening of the Sydney Harbour Tunnel in 1992. This involved over 2000 Rotarians from the then three Rotary Districts encompassing Sydney who acted as Marshalls and Volunteers on the day – an event which saw 350,000 people walk through the tunnel on that day, raising over $750,000 for the Charity. Harold held the position of Club President of Crows Nest in 1996 and Governor for the then District 9680 in 2002-03. Harold has held many board positions both at club and district level and was part of the organising committee for the Rotary International Convention held in Sydney in 2014. He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and a recipient of the prestigious Rotary International Service Above Self award. He was awarded an OAM in June 2020 for Service to the Community and Charity Initiatives. Harold is currently Chairman of ROMAC – Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children – an official project of Rotary International which brings children from the Pacific Region to Australian and New Zealand hospitals for life-saving or dignity restoring surgery which is not available to them in their home country. |

David was born in Montreal, Canada and holds honours degrees in philosophy and law from McGill University. He came to Australia in 1989 to accept a scholarship in law from the University of Sydney. He became a partner in two law firms before becoming a barrister in 2005. He specialises in medical law. David has been a support volunteer for people living with HIV/AIDS, a member of an interfaith group and the coach of a high school mock trial team. He is also the chair of a volunteer land management council with responsibility for two Crown reserves near Lithgow. He was an executive member of the Sydney Peace Foundation from 2005 to 2017 and its chair for the last three of those years. He joined Rotary in 2017 and is the chair of the club’s Peacebuilding Group. David’s interests include alternative dispute resolution, community-building, social justice, and Australian history. When he is not busy helping to change the world, David enjoys listening to electronic music, bushwalking, fishing and skiing. David is married to Donna who is a schoolteacher. They have three children. |

Gordon R. McInally, a member of the Rotary Club of South Queensferry, Lothian, Scotland, is the selection of the Nominating Committee for President of Rotary International for 2023-24. Gordon, a graduate of dental surgery at the University of Dundee, owned and operated his own dental practice in Edinburgh. He was the chair of the East of Scotland branch of the British Paedodontic Society and has held various academic positions. He has also served as a Presbytery elder, chair of Queensferry Parish Congregational Board, and commissioner to the church’s general assembly. A Rotary member since 1984, McInally has been president and vice president of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland. He has also served Rotary International as a director and as member or chair of several committees. He is currently an adviser to the 2022 Houston Convention Committee and chair of the Operations Review Committee. McInally and his wife, Heather, are Major Donors and Benefactors of The Rotary Foundation. They are also members of the Bequest Society. |

Fifty plus years in journalism and media management – 27 of which were spent ‘flying the flag’ as managing editor of Rotary Down Under – saw Bob well prepared to enjoy the role of Executive Director of Rotary Down Under Inc, specialising in public relations and corporate development in his final three years as leader of the Rotary region’s premier media organisation. Bob retired from Rotary Down Under on July 1, 2014, and immediately launched his own small media company, Bob Aitken Media, to ensure his retirement was well motivated. Bob joined the Rotary Club of Parkes, NSW, in 1975 and has been a member of the Rotary Club of Lower Blue Mountains in District 9685, NSW, since 1984. He was Governor of District 9690 in 1996/97. |

Rotary Peace Bell project

Michael Rabey is a member of the The Rotary Club of Canberra Burley Griffin (RCCBG) and co-ordinator of the Canberra Rotary Peace Bell Project. This club instigated the fundraising and creation of the bell. In partnership with the World Peace Bell Association, the Rotary Club of Canberra Burley Griffin undertook an ambitious project of building a peace bell pavilion within the Canberra Nara Peace Park precinct on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin. The Canberra Rotary Peace Bell is the result. Officially launched on 23 February 2018 the bell provides a destination in Nara Park to remind us that we want a peaceful World. Michael will explain the project as well as the Rotary Peace Bell Project for schools and how clubs and individuals can be involved. |

Dementia Awareness and Support

Bobby has been a Rotarian since 2010, starting out at The Rotary Club of The Hills Kellyville, becoming President of the Club in the 2012-13 Rotary year. On her retirement in 2014, she moved up to the Central Coast, and is a current member of Brisbane Water Rotary Club. Bobby has held a number of District positions including AG for the Lower Central Coast in 2015-16; Vocational District Chair 2016 – 2019; was on the District Youth Exchange Committee from 2013 to 2017; and was on the Australian Rotary Health Committee since 2016 – 2021. She currently holds the position of District Chair for the Dementia Awareness and Support Committee, under the Community Service banner. Before retiring in 2014, Bobby was a psychologist, specialising in working with people with an intellectual disability. Since being diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, in 2016, Bobby has set herself the task of improving the lives of people living with dementia and is passionate about her dementia advocacy work. In 2021 she was honoured by the District with the Rotary Vocational Excellence Award – the Graham Turnidge Shield for her ongoing Dementia Advocacy work and commitment to Rotary. Bobby will try to give us a better understanding of dementia and will talk to us about why greater awareness around dementia is important, as well as how the community can assist in improving the lives of people living with dementia and their family carers. She will also talk about the Rotary Dementia Cafes, known as DCaf, which are being established around the District. |
