Peace Building

David was born in Montreal, Canada and holds honours degrees in philosophy and law from McGill University.  He came to Australia in 1989 to accept a scholarship in law from the University of Sydney.  He became a partner in two law firms before becoming a barrister in 2005.  He specialises in medical law.

David has been a support volunteer for people living with HIV/AIDS, a member of an interfaith group and the coach of a high school mock trial team. He is also the chair of a volunteer land management council with responsibility for two Crown reserves near Lithgow. He was an executive member of the Sydney Peace Foundation from 2005 to 2017 and its chair for the last three of those years.  He joined Rotary in 2017 and is the chair of the club’s Peacebuilding Group.

David’s interests include alternative dispute resolution, community-building, social justice, and Australian history.  When he is not busy helping to change the world, David enjoys listening to electronic music, bushwalking, fishing and skiing. 

David is married to Donna who is a schoolteacher.  They have three children.
