We conducted a brief survey of all club members about your priorities for the 2019-2020 Rotary year. Twenty-six of our 35 members responded by the deadline, and provided very useful guidance to the Board on your preferences. These will be discussed by the Board at our meeting on Sunday, 4 August, and with the club members who attend the online meeting.
Members were asked 6 questions in a SurveyMonkey survey to get opinions on key issues. 26 of 35 members responded to the survey.
Question 1. Meeting Date Preference
Three-fourths of responding members agreed that we should meet only on Sundays.
Those who disagreed would prefer alternating Sunday/Monday, or just meet once a month.
Question2. What should our E-Club be doing in 2019-20?
Almost all agreed that the club should be encouraging fellowship and networking amongst our members, and enabling members to carry out their own projects.
Three out of four members agreed that we should support youth projects, build our Facebook profile and attract additional members who are new to Rotary.
The only option that failed to attract support from a majority was to build our public profile on other social media as well as Facebook.
Q3. Currently our club only raises money for service projects by conducting a monthly barbecue in the Blue Mountains, with the proceeds used to support youth activities. What other fund raising activities for the Club would you personally support?
No other fund-raising idea won the support of at least half of the respondents. Just making a personal donation was the most popular idea.
Q4. What would you like to hear about at our online meetings? Please order the list with your highest preference first.
The first three choices that appealed to more than half the members were to get an update from the Board on decisions and plans, hear from one or two members, hear from an external guest speaker, and to learn more about a key Rotary topic. There was very low interest in unstructured discussion or guest speakers seeking financial support.
Q5. If you are unable to attend an online meeting, how would you like to learn about what happened at the meeting?
Most members wanted a brief summary of the meeting in the next club newsletter.
Q6. What service can you personally offer the Club this year to assist in its operations? (Please enter your name in the comment field at the bottom)
Most respondents were willing to offer their own personal stories at club meetings, provide material for the club newsletter, and serve as a mentor to other members. However, only 8 were willing to serve on the club board, and only 3 respondents were willing to take the lead in a fund-raising project.
