UPDATES FROM UGANDA

As our students return to classrooms in a staggered approach to ensure the health and safety of our entire school community, we are expecting approximately 1,445 students to report in, of which a third will be new students starting with us.

Over the coming weeks our team will focus on settling all our children back into the classroom routine, providing the necessary psycho-social support during this transition back to school and following up our students to ensure everyone is back with us.

Key highlights from the month include:

  • The boys' boarding facility has opened! With construction wrapping up at the end of December, the Senior boys' boarding facility opened just in time to welcome our boy boarders last week. We will be sharing some special stories and footage of the momentous day with you shortly.
  • We have hired 12 new teachers to bolster our growing student numbers. It's been a tough, pandemic riddled couple of years, but our team in Uganda has emerged stronger and more resilient after tackling the challenges of the last two years. With some new faces joining us, we can't wait to see what our team will achieve this year.
  • Did you see us on BBC World News? Last week our Director of Community & Welfare, Janepher, and our student Aisha, were interviewed live from our schools as Uganda's school shutdown came to an end.
