Welcome to the new year and I hope you have all have had a great start to the new decade.
It certainly has been a strange start. Bush fires, drought, prospect of a war and loss of innocent lives to name a few, but what has been mostly forgotten in the reporting of the doom and gloom is the beautiful acts of kindness, solidarity of total strangers in the face of adversity and the volunteering spirit to help where it is needed.
The Rotary family has banded together to help not only to raise funds but also give hands on help wherever needed.
I like to thank our members for their tireless efforts in this matter. My special thanks go to Lucian and his helpers for the continued BBQs on behalf of the Club to raise much needed funds for the Bush fire appeal.
Please note the communication from the District Governor Kalma and Central Coast AG Christine regarding Bushfire appeal in this copy of Phoenix.
On a lighter note, I had the pleasure of meeting our RYLA candidate, Alick last Sunday. During our trip to the camp I was aware of how unsure and timid he was about what he was to experience.
I attended the formal dinner on Tuesday and the change in him was almost palpable. I will not steal his thunder about his experience in the camp but will say seeing him at his graduation ceremony from how he conducted himself I was convinced that we have chosen the best candidate for this camp.
I am certainly looking forward to his report to our Club at very near future.
I also would like PP Oscar for transporting Alick back to Campbelltown after the graduation ceremony.
We will also have our RYPEN candidate attending soon to report on their camp experience.
I acknowledge the resignation of Scott from our Club. I am sure you will all join me in wishing him a happy relocation to Tasmania.
I look forward to seeing you online at our first meeting of the year on the 19th of January.
Be safe and be happy.
