Kiribati Rotary Contact Trapped in Fiji by Corona Virus.
A story re Fiji, Kiribati, Rotary and Sewaid:
Tony reports:- Ruth Cross is my main contact for our future project in Kiribati. Ruth is the President of the Rotary Club of Tarawa in Kiribati. She came to Melbourne at Christmas time to have a baby and stay with her mother. She gave birth in January, She had her flight booked back to Kiribati on March 17th after which she was going to prepare everything for our Sewaid team training in April. But Mr. Covid changed everything and part of getting back to Kiribati she had to first spend 14 days in isolation in Fiji - which had no virus at that stage. However, while she was on the 14 days isolation, Covid came to Fiji and so Kiribati, cut off all flights from Fiji. Ruth has now been trapped in Fiji for two months, not being able to go onto Kiribati or return to Melbourne. Mililka, Lautoka Rotary and District 9920 are looking after her. I think she is living off one of their food parcels.
